Abstract
Vertebral fractures are common skeletal complications in older patients with osteoporosis. Acute severe back pain is a common finding after symptomatic vertebral fracture. Although the incidence of neurological symptoms as a result of osteoporotic vertebral fractures is not known, it is thought to be low. If the main symptom is radiating pain without back pain, misdiagnosis may occur. The study reports on two patients with thoracic vertebrae fractures, with a chief complaint of chest pain rather than back pain. These cases highlight the fact that awareness about potential symptoms due to thoracic vertebral fracture is essential in order to reach the correct diagnosis.
